3 TENNIS LEVELS

BEGINNER

New players typically have limited or no prior tennis experience and are primarily focused on getting the ball into play. They are unfamiliar with technical shots or game tactics and are developing basic techniques, movements, and an understanding of the rules, including forehand, backhand, volley, and serving. At this level, coaches like to see a passion for the sport and a willingness to learn.

INTERMEDIATE

Players at the intermediate level have an understanding of basic techniques, movements, and rules and can sustain a short rally of slow pace with other players of similar ability. They have achieved improved stroke dependability with directional control on moderate shots, but still lack depth and variety. To become more confident, they will need to refine their technique and develop match play strategy.

ADVANCE

Advanced players have dependable strokes, including directional control and depth on both forehand and backhand sides, and can use lobs, overheads, approach shots, and volleys with some success. They can vary the use of pace and spins, have effective court coverage, and control the depth of shots, developing game plans according to strengths and weaknesses. Players at this level can hit first serves with power and accuracy.

CARDIO TENNIS:

Fitness Benefits: A Workout for Body and Mind

- Cardio tennis is a high-energy group fitness class that blends the excitement of tennis with a fast-paced aerobic workout. Unlike traditional tennis lessons, cardio tennis focuses less on technique and competition, and more on movement, fitness, and fun. Sessions typically include a dynamic warm-up, a series of tennis-based drills and games set to upbeat music, and a cool-down period, creating an engaging environment suitable for all skill levels.

Benefits of Cardio Tennis

Full-Body Workout: Cardio tennis engages multiple muscle groups through constant movement—running, lunging, and swinging—leading to improved strength, agility, and flexibility.

Cardiovascular Health: The fast-paced drills keep your heart rate elevated, boosting cardiovascular endurance, lowering blood pressure, and reducing the risk of heart disease and stroke.

High Calorie Burn: Sessions can burn 500–800 calories per hour, making it an effective workout for weight management and fat loss.

Improved Tennis Skills: While the focus is on fitness, participants also enhance their footwork, hand-eye coordination, and overall tennis abilities in a low-pressure, supportive setting.

Mental Benefits: The energetic atmosphere and group setting boost endorphin levels, relieve stress, and improve mood, while the need for quick decisions sharpens cognitive function.

Social and Fun: Cardio tennis is inclusive and social, offering a motivating way to meet new people and stay active, regardless of your tennis experience.

Whether you’re a beginner looking for a new way to get fit or an experienced player aiming to boost endurance and agility, cardio tennis offers a dynamic, enjoyable path to better health and improved on-court performance.

GROUP LESSONS:

Social Interaction and Friendly Competition

Affordability: Group lessons are more cost-effective, making professional instruction accessible to budget-conscious players.

Social Interaction: You’ll have the opportunity to socialize and connect with other players who share your interest in tennis, forming friendships and enjoying camaraderie.

Competition and Motivation: Playing alongside others in a group setting provides a competitive atmosphere that motivates you to push yourself and strive for improvement.

Skill Diversity: Group lessons expose you to a range of playing styles, improving your reaction time and ability to strategize against different opponents.

Teamwork: Learning alongside peers fosters teamwork while providing a fun and supportive environment where players can share experiences and learn from each other.

- Consistency: is crucial for improvement in tennis. Regular attendance and consistent effort in classes are essential to develop muscle memory, refine your technique, and progress to higher levels. Aiming for consistency in every shot will reduce unforced errors, and increase your chances of winning matches. The Key to Leveling Up: Consistency.

Fitness Benefits: A Workout for Body and Mind

Tennis offers numerous fitness benefits for adults over 18:

Cardiovascular Fitness: Tennis provides an excellent cardiovascular workout, improving blood flow and reducing the risk of heart disease.

Weight Loss: The active nature of tennis helps burn calories and body fat, aiding in weight loss and maintenance. An hour of tennis can burn between 400 and 600 calories.

Strength and Agility: Tennis builds lean muscle, increases metabolism, and improves agility, coordination, and reaction time.

Stress Reduction: Playing tennis regularly reduces stress and improves mental well-being.

Increased Stamina: Regular play improves aerobic and anaerobic abilities, giving you better stamina for everyday activities.

Stronger Bones: Tennis helps strengthen bones, reducing the risk of osteoporosis.

Longevity: Studies show that people who play tennis regularly can live, on average, nine to ten years longer than those who don’t.
